The document applies to ship's winches. The warping ends mounted on the extensions of winch shafts are used for hauling in ropes (steel wire ropes or fibre ropes). It specifies the types, nominal sizes, construction, material and the designation of the warping ends. It contains warping ends of the long type, only, since the See-Berufsgenossenschaft (Marine Employers' Liability Insurance Association) do not permit warping ends of the short type (hitherto type F) on safety gounds. Should these short type warping ends be employed in cases where the rules of the See-Berufsgenossenschaft do not apply, they can be ordered as type C according to ISO 6482.
