The test covered by this standard is used to check the untightening behaviour of aerospace fasteners under dynamic transverse loading. The test result is influenced by a number of test parameters the qualitative effect of which is still unknown in detail in individual cases. Therefore, the test according to this standard does not allow for an absolute assurance of the locking behaviour of a bolted connection under service conditions. So the object of this test is to provide for a comparative assessment of locking elements under defined test conditions.
