The standard specifies a method for the determination of zinc in water and wastewater by atomic absortion spectrometry (AAS) using an air-acetylene flame in a range between 0,01 mg/l and 2 mg/l zinc. After dilution higher concentrations can be determined. In water containing undissolved zinc sample is is broken down accordingly or if demanded only the dissolved zinc is determined by filtering the sample before stabilizing. The total zinc content can be determinated in water containing particles, sludge and sediments after relevant breaking down.
