The values of human body dimensions given in this standard are valid for persons without clothing. Persons with clothing were not regarded, as details of the clothing and equipment worn at the body will vary within a short period of time due to fashion and technical changes. According to the procedure which is meanwhile usual in Europe, the examined population is not defined according to their nationality. The examined population consists of all persons living permanently in the Federal Republic of Germany (citizens). Due to increasing migration in Europe and the varied naturalization, it has been shown to be practical to orientate the anthropometric examination to the citizens. This fits better to the realities of the work environment and the needs of the citizens. This leads - in relation to the old definition of the examined persons - to a change of the variability in all age-groups. Reason for this definitions is to make public body dimensions and their variability.
