This standard specifies the dimensions for hollow taper shanks with flange contact surface to be applied on machine tools (e. g. turning machines, drilling machines, milling machines and grinding machines). The torque is transmitted by friction lock and additionally by form lock at the flange. Type B is automatically exchangeable by means of drive key notches and indexing grooves. Manual actuation of the clamping mechanism can be performed by means of a bore in the taper shank. Type D is manually exchangeable. Actuation of the clamping mechanism can be performed by means of a bore in the taper shank.
