This standard is applicable to the data provided by the manufacturers or suppliers of fiber optical products for image and data transmission (distances up to 100 m) as well as for transmission of light and optical radiation in the near infrared and ultraviolet spectral range. The standard is not applicable to fiber optic components and products, intended for telecommunication and data transmission over distances greater than 100 m. The purpose of this standard is to specify uniform data sheet specifications for the description of flexible image guides.
