This standard applies for the production of EMC documentation for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Electromagnetic compatibility as defined in this standard includes protection against electromagnetic pulse (EMP), atmospheric lightning, and electrostatic discharge (ESD). EMP is used as a generic term for electromagnetic pulses such as nuclear electromagnetic pulse (NEMP), and lightning electromagnetic pulse (LEMP); however, it does not refer to the direct lightning stroke.
