VG 88700-3:2014-12

This standard applies in connection with VG 88700-2 to the frames of the modular sleeve system. This system is used to manufacture penetrations through divisions. Divisions are parts of the ship's structure, like bulkheads or decks. They are equipped with openings for the passage of electrical cables and pipes. Inside of these openings frames according to this standard are mounted to maintain the mechanical rigidity of the division and, in connection with the system components according to VG 88700-4, to seal the electrical cables or pipes passed through. A penetrated division treated in this way provides the from the purchaser (acquiring party) required properties with respect to its mechanical strength as an intact (not penetrated) division.
