This basic section standard applies in connection with the respective detail standard and specifies general technical and environmental requirements and tests for systems intended to lead electrical cables, pipes and ducts through divisions of vessels. For duct penetrations the same requirements and tests with respect to their fire resistance apply as those for pipe penetrations. Penetrations manufactured with the systems according to this standard are fire-retardant, gastight and water pressure tight.
