This generic standard applies to circuit breakers in combination with the detail standard for circuit breakers, in the following referred to as components. This generic standard includes the general re-quirements and provisions for electrical and electronic circuit breakers of DC and low frequency techniques for current and voltage protection without specified characteristic impedance. It contains statements relating to unchanging technical requirements and test conditions, i. e. properties and provisions that apply to the respective components as well as general procedures, matters of liability, patent law, etc. The detail standard specifies the specific technical requirements and tests applicable to the respective components.
