The project applies to microscopic examinations for detection of mycobacteria. It is not possible to differentiate tubercle bacteria and other mycobacteria (atypical mycobacteria, see DIN 58943-3) by the microscopic methods specified in this document. Additionally, it cannot be determined whether the mycobacteria detected are still able to propagate or have already been inactivated (i.e. due to chemotherapy or disinfection or sterilization methods after sampling).
