This standard applies to technical documents (in accordance with DIN 199-1) the content of which is directly aimed at the manufacturing of materiel (items of supply, goods) for the Bundeswehr. The sets of drawings according to the series of standards VG 95001 are part of these documents. Compulsory marking in accordance with this standard equally applies to user documentation with identical contractual or factual principles, the information content of which is tailored to the intended use of the materiel in the Bundeswehr (for example, service regulations with technical content or handling instructions). The author of such technical documents is usually protected against unauthorized use of these documents by proprietary rights (in respect of the technical content) and copyrights (in respect of the layout of the documents), competition law and contractual agreements. This applies also if no copyright marking as per ISO 16016 has not been affixed to these documents. Therefore, the right to release acquired technical documents also to third parties as part of a contract awarding procedure always requires a separate agreement with the originator of the technical documents (granting of the respective right of use). The purpose of this standard is to show the applicable copyright and usage right situation by a case-specific marking related to the right of use directly on the technical document itself. The purpose of this marking is to support competition in contract awarding procedures. It observes legal and contractual usage restrictions and simplifies administrative processes. Furthermore, it can be taken as the basis for the allocation of a marking related to the right of use for logistic purposes. In case of contractual agreement of this standard, usually the version valid at the date of the contract shall be agreed.
