This standard applies to switchable socket-outlets which are preferably used in shipbuilding. They consist of a surface-mounted casing with a lid which is fitted with a contact insert according to DIN 89320 and a switch insert according to DIN 89322, one or two threaded bushing/s for the cable inlet and a screw cap for the closure of the unused socket-outlet. They are designed for application with shielded and unshielded electrical cables, e. g. type MGG according to DIN 89160, type A according to VG 95218-13 or type C according to VG 95218-28 and similar cable designs and with insulated wires with a nominal cross-section up to 2,5 mm2. The two types with rated voltages up to and including 150 V and exceeding 150 V up to 250 V allow the use of two operating voltage systems on one ship. Suitable plugs are described in DIN 89267.
