This standard applies to modification, extension and repair/maintenance of electrical cable installations onboard vessels. It applies to work activities on cables for power and communication, e. g. according to VG 95218 and comparable cables and insulated wires with halogen-free and halogen-containing insulation. This standard does not apply to special cables, such as coaxial and fibre optic cables. This standard does not apply to connections and repair work on submarine vessels outside of the pressure hull and not to the upper-deck areas of surface vessels.
