This standard describes the procedure for drawing up briefs for building design. It defines the required steps, specifies the type and extent of the information required and also describes the most important content of a design brief and how to structure such briefs. In short, the design brief documents and communicates the results of the briefing process in full. This standard applies to all types and sizes of building design projects. Building design briefs are drawn up at the start of the project, checked as the project progresses and amended if necessary. Changes in the user and operational requirements may make it necessary to draw up a new design brief. Building design briefs are the responsibility of the client.
