Current biometric standards and associated security standards for biometrics do not yet adequately address the issues raised with the use of high quality digital cameras and CCTV devices for full body photography and non-frontal poses. Work is still required in establishing best practice. As such a European Technical Specification to collect consensus of the issues appears the ideal vehicle prior to any required amendments to the current ISO/IEC 19794-5 or a new biometric standard pertaining to 'Interoperability of biometric recorded data' (CEN TC 224/WG 18).
