This DIN SPEC was developed in accordance with the PAS procedure by a temporary body ('Workshop'). This DIN SPEC was developed and approved by the authors named in the forword. On the basis of a catalogue of objective criteria, this DIN SPEC defines which methods are most suitable for evaluating the performance of which explosives trace detection systems, taking into account generic scenarios. Two main issues which are important to the user are being addressed: (a) Based on their needs, end users are looking for a detection system with a wide range of applications (evaluation method for investigating generic scenarios). (b) Based on their needs, end users are looking for the optimal detection system for a specific scenario (targeted evaluation method). This DIN SPEC gives general guidelines, based on a catalogue of criteria, for recommended evaluation methods that do not involve sensitive data in terms of classified information.
