Rope or belt clamps are an essential part of a personal fall protection system to ensure immediate rescue after a fall. The clamps are used together with rescue devices (descender devices/rescue lifting devices) to lift and/or descend a user. Therefore, it is intended that the clamps are attached to the connecting element, which is used by the person to be rescued (e. g. a retractable type fall arrester) or the loaded flexible anchor line (e. g. a guided type fall arrester). This standard specifies requirements, testing procedures, marking and information supplied by the manufacturer for rope clamps and belt clamps. Rope and belt clamps according to this standard are used as connecting elements in rescue systems. This standard does not apply to: - fall arresters in fall arrest systems, - clamps according to DIN EN 567. This standard intends to serve as a additional specificationnext to existing European Standards, which deal with other components used in personal fall protection systems.
