This DIN SPEC has been drawn up by a temporary body ('Workshop') in accordance with the PAS procedure. This DIN SPEC has been developed and adopted by the authors named in the Foreword. This Document specifies requirements for data structure, data groups and interface definitions for the data exchange between all stakeholders involved in intermodal transport to standardise and therefore improve the data flow in a crucial way. The structure is modular and the content can be extended as well as applied to other fields of logistics. This document is primarily intended to be used by the following: - operators of ports, terminals and other transshipment facilities; - providers of logistics services, rail and road operators, providers of transport services; - railway transport companies; - inland navigation companies; - haulage companies; - trucking companies; - shipping companies; - shippers (production companies, etc.); - logistics customers/goods recipient; - public institutions, e. g. harbour authorities. This document is primarily intended to be used by German market participants in commerce with European market participants and is written in German language. Terms, especially concerning the data structure list, are listed in English, for this language is leading in the international data exchange. This Document applies for the comprehensive information and data exchange between all stakeholders involved in intermodal transport to achieve the following: - create a data structure for the intermodal transport market; - uninterrupted connectivity and supervision; - efficient, standardized, future-oriented data exchange; - establish a system for organisation and retention of data; - avoidance of communication problems through consistent syntax and semantics; - create a basis for digitalized and automatized processes; - description of the intermodal transport market and its diversified stakeholders together with their interfaces.
