This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure was developed within a workshop set up on a temporary basis. The document was developed and approved by the authors named in the business plan. This DIN SPEC (PAS) defines a description format for 'serious games'. 'Serious games' is a term denoting digital games that convey information or are educational, or that are used for therapeutic purposes, rather than serving primarily as entertainment. This DIN SPEC (PAS) will also specify requirements relating to the description format for serious games. This description format is aimed at designers, manufacturers, publishers and users of serious games (e. g. teaching and training staff, doctors and therapeutic specialists). This DIN SPEC (PAS) can be used as a basis for an information portal on serious games. The DIN SPEC (PAS) will present a glossary of terms to ensure a common unified language when developing and using serious games; define a description format and specify the appropriate requirements; create a semantic basis to facilitate users' targeted search for serious games. This DIN SPEC (PAS) does not specify requirements relating to data storage or data processing. This DIN SPEC (PAS) is aimed at games designers, manufacturers, publishers, teaching and training staff, doctors, therapeutic specialists and other users of serious games.
