This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure was developed within a workshop set up on a temporary basis. The DIN SPEC was developed and approved by the authors named in the foreword. This DIN SPEC specifies requirements for the use of packaging materials and passive cooling systems and the procedure for shipping goods that require refrigeration and goods that do not require refrigeration for end-consumer oriented online food businesses. This DIN SPEC is aimed at online food businesses in the B2C segment that ship processed and unprocessed food within a nation's borders, food that requires refrigeration and food that does not require refrigeration and food sensitive to cold. It is neither aimed at the shipping of freshly prepared dishes (i.e. restaurant delivery services), nor at businesses from the B2B segment.
