This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for factory internally and / or externally applied epoxy coatings (melting of powdered epoxy or liquid epoxy resin in a two-component process) for the corrosion protection of cast iron fittings, steel and cast steel. Coatings after this standard are, depending on the design, suitable for operating temperatures from -20 °C up to 60 °C. Maximum temperatures defined in DIN EN 1074-1 (water) or DIN EN 13774 and DIN EN 14141 (gas) are not constricted by this standard. The temperature gradient between transported medium and ambient temperature of the valve or auxiliary influences the application due to water vapour diffusion (blister formation on the inner coating due to differences in temperature according to DIN 50928) The requirements and tests specified in this document are used for quality assurance of fittings with EP coating. This document does not apply to fittings and accessories from ductile cast iron. The applicable standard for this is DIN EN 14901.
