This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies magnetic type ballasts for discharge lamps for operating, the high-pressure mercury vapour lamps specified in JIS C 7604, low pressure sodium vapour lamps specified in JIS C 7610, high-pressure sodium vapour lamps specified in JIS C 7621 and metal halide lamps specified in JIS C 7623 which are to be used in ordinary places, in the circuit with the rated secondary voltage not more than 1 000 V, of the rated frequency 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
