This prestandard supplements the International Standard IEC 60794-1-1 with national markings of cables and fibres and thus applies for optical fibre cables for use with communication equipment and devices employing similar techniques and to cables having a combination of both optical fibres and electrical conductors. The purpose of this prestandard is to standardize the marking of optical fibre cables with a type abbreviation and the colours and the counting order for the fibres of a multifibre loose buffer. The corrigendum in subclause 4.2 was necessary, due to the danger of double meaning in the letter code if no brackets are used.
