Provides guidance on the design, rating and manufacture of spur and helical gears for power transmission. It is based on Standards published by the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA), and a full list of AGMA Standards is provided in an Appendix. It covers basic gear data, determination of power rating and measuring practices. Alternative methods for the determination of the geometry factors for pitting resistance and bending strength are given and worked examples are included.
